Biles, Gilgeous‑Alexander, Eagles Dominate 2025 ESPYS Awards Night

Los Angeles lit up on July 16, 2025 as stars from across the sports world gathered for the ESPYS. The evening delivered powerful stories of triumph, surprise, and raw emotion—and Trend Rage is here for every moment.

Simone Biles was one of the night's biggest winners. She picked up Best Championship Performance and Best Female Athlete, both celebrating her stunning three golds and a team title at the Paris Olympics. She also gave a heart‑felt shout‑out to flood victims in Texas during her acceptance speech.

Across the aisle, Shai Gilgeous‑Alexander earned Best Male Athlete. Coming off an MVP season and leading the Thunder to an NBA title, he stumbled through an endearing opening joke during his speech before capturing hearts with a humble, “It takes a village” moment.

The Philadelphia Eagles closed the night strong, claiming Best Team after their Super Bowl win. Coach Nick Sirianni and players accepted amid cheers—making it a night none in Philly will forget.

Beyond the top awards, the ceremony also honored:

Saquon Barkley grabbed Best NFL Player and Best Play for his jaw‑dropping backward hurdle, capping off a clean sweep with his team’s award.

Suni Lee was recognized as Best Comeback Athlete after her triumphant return from rare kidney disease.

Ilona Maher earned Best Breakthrough Athlete, becoming the first rugby player to win an ESPY.

Honored for courage and service were Oscar Robertson, recipients of the Arthur Ashe Award, and firefighter‑athletes David Walters and Erin Regan—earning the Pat Tillman Award.

Hosted by comedian Shane Gillis, the night sparked chatter from his bold opening monologue—but the spotlight remained firmly on the athletes and their inspiring stories.

This year’s ESPYS wasn’t just glitz—it was a celebration of grit, growth, and game‑changing moments. From Olympic gold to Super Bowl glory to tales of triumph over adversity, the awards showed the power of sport to move us.
